Saved views
Save a list's filters, sort order and columns under a name, so you can come back to the same view of your invoices or clients in one click.
Coming March 2027
This feature ships in March 2027. This page describes how it will work; details can change before release.
A saved view remembers how you like to look at a list. If you check "overdue invoices for this business, largest first" every Monday, or keep a list of clients with only the columns you care about, save it once and open it again with one click. A saved view stores the list's filters, sort and columns under a name you choose, and it is yours: each member keeps their own views.
What a view stores
| Part | Example |
|---|---|
| Name | "Overdue, largest first" |
| List | Which list the view belongs to, for example documents or clients. |
| Filters | Status, client, dates, currency and the other filters the list offers, for example status overdue. |
| Sort | The column and direction, for example total, highest first. |
| Columns | Which columns are shown, and in what order. |
| Business | Optionally, the business the view is for. |
A view stores the question, not the answer. Opening it runs the filters again on today's data, so an "Overdue" view always shows what is overdue now, including invoices that became overdue since you saved it.
Save a view in the web app
Open a list
For example Invoices. Lists have a toolbar with search, filter chips, saved views and a column picker.
Set it up the way you want
Add filters (status, client, date), choose the sort order, and use the column picker to choose the columns.
Save as a view
Use saved views in the toolbar to save the current list as a view, and give it a name.
Open it later
Your views appear in the saved views list on that page. Pick one to apply its filters, sort and columns at once.
To change a view, open it, adjust the list and save it again under the same name. To remove one, delete it from the saved views list. Deleting a view never deletes any document or client; it only forgets the settings.
Saved views through the API
Views are available through the API, so a custom dashboard or script can reuse the same filters as the app. There is no MCP tool or CLI command for views.
| Action | Endpoint |

"entity": "documents",
"name": "Overdue, largest first",
"business_id": "0193f2a1-7c4e-7b9a-9f10-3c2d1e0a4b51",
"filters": { "type": "invoice", "status": ["overdue"] },
"sort": "-total_minor",
"columns": ["number", "client", "due_date", "total_minor", "balance_minor", "status"]
}'The example uses the filter names of the list endpoints, such as status, type, client_id, currency, due_before and due_after, and their sort syntax, where a leading - means descending. The exact shape of filters, sort and columns is on the endpoint page. To use a view from your own code, read it with List saved views and pass its filters and sort to the list endpoint, for example List documents. See Pagination and filters.
Rules and edge cases
- Personal. Your saved views are visible to you only. Other members of the account keep their own.
- Permissions still apply. A view never shows anything you are not allowed to see. If you lose access to a business, a view filtered to that business shows nothing from it.
- Live results. Views run on current data every time you open them.
- Only settings are saved. A view holds no copy of your data. For totals and CSV or PDF exports, use Reports.
Errors
| Code | When |
|---|---|
validation_failed | Missing name, an unknown list, or a filter or column the list does not support. |
not_found | The view does not exist or belongs to another member. |
permission_denied | Your role lacks documents.view. |
Permissions
| Action | Permission key |
|---|---|
| List, create, change and delete your saved views | documents.view |
Every preset role (Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer and Accountant) has documents.view, so every member can save views. See Roles and permissions.
