Build directly with the API

Every feature is one API call. Create an API key in Settings > API keys, then create a draft invoice:

Money is always sent as a string of integer minor units, so "120000" is 1,200.00 USD. See the API reference for every endpoint, or Build with AI to work through an assistant.

Make one invoice without an account

The free invoice generator makes a PDF invoice in your browser with no sign-up. Your invoices stay on your device until you choose to create an account, and then they move in with you.

Install the CLI

The freeinvoiceautomation command line tool runs every API call from your terminal and scripts. It ships in the week of 25 January 2027.

What can Free Invoice Automation do?

Why Free Invoice Automation?

• Free forever: every invoicing feature is on the Free plan. Team ($10 a month) adds members, roles, an audit log, more emails and more AI credits; it never unlocks invoicing features.
• No cut of your money: we never take a percentage of an invoice payment and never hold your funds.
• Paperless by design: documents are created, sent, signed and paid online, so nothing needs printing or posting.
• One capability, every surface: the web app, REST API, MCP server, CLI, Shopify app, WordPress plugin and AI agent all call the same actions, with the same permissions.
• Clean for your clients: no ads, affiliates or sponsors on your PDFs, pay pages, portal or client emails.

Invoices

Create an invoice in the app, through the API or by asking your assistant. Each business keeps its own gap-free numbering, and a sent invoice is never edited in place: changes become a new revision, so what your client received stays on record. See Invoices.

Payments

Connect your own Stripe account through Stripe Connect, or show your bank details for transfers. A pay page link goes with every invoice. An invoice is marked paid only when Stripe confirms the payment, or when a person records it, never because a browser was redirected. See How payments work.

Automation

The AI invoice agent turns plain language, pasted text or a receipt into draft invoices and clients. Reminders, late fees and recurring invoices arrive in January 2027, and webhooks tell your own systems when anything changes.
