Pricing and plans
Is Free Invoice Automation really free?
Yes. The Free plan costs $0 forever and includes every invoicing feature: invoices, estimates, credit notes, receipts, saved items, unlimited businesses, card and bank payments, the API, the MCP server and the connectors. Features that ship after launch, such as reminders, recurring invoices, reports and contracts, arrive on Free too. Fair-use limits exist only to stop abuse. See Free and Team plans.
Do you take a cut of my payments?
No. We never take a percentage of an invoice payment, on any plan. Card payments go straight to your own Stripe account and bank transfers straight to your bank. We never hold your money. Your payment provider charges its own fees as usual. See How payments work.
What does Team cost and what does it add?
Team is $10 a month or $96 a year, with a regional price of $5 a month or $48 a year in some countries. It includes 5 members (then $2 a month each), editable and custom roles, the audit log screen, 100 platform emails and 1,000 AI credits a month (2,000 in your first paid month), priority email support, and removes the "Powered by" line. It does not unlock any invoicing features. See Upgrade to Team.
Is there a free trial of Team?
No. Instead, your first Team payment is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee, once per account. If Team is not right for you, ask within 30 days for a full refund. See 30-day money-back.
Who will I be paying?
Free Invoice Automation is owned by Genyune (SMC-Private) Limited. Team subscriptions and AI credit packs are sold by Genyune Inc. through its Stripe account, so Genyune Inc. is the name on your receipt.
How does the regional price work?
If your billing country is on our regional list, Team costs $5 a month or $48 a year and extra members $1 a month or $10 a year. Checkout shows the price for your card's country. If the card's country and your billing address do not match, the standard price applies. See Regional price.
What happens if my Team payment fails?
You get a 5-day grace period with everything still working while Stripe retries your card. If it stays unpaid, the account moves to Free. Nothing is deleted and your pay pages keep working, but extra members are deactivated. See Failed renewal and downgrade.
Getting started
Do I need an account to make an invoice?
No. The free invoice generator makes a PDF invoice in your browser with no sign-up. Your data stays on your device. Create an account when you want to email invoices, get paid from a pay page or keep records you can reach anywhere.
What happens to my generator invoices if I sign up?
After you sign up, your browser uploads them once into your account's first business and then clears its own copy. Signing in again on the same browser does not upload them twice. See Move your invoices into an account.
How do I sign up?
Go to app.freeinvoiceautomation.com/sign-up and use email and password, Google, Apple or a magic link. No card is needed. See Create your account.
Can I run more than one business?
Yes, as many as you like on every plan. Each business has its own name and logo, numbering, tax rates, payment methods and templates. See Businesses.
Invoices and documents
Can I edit an invoice after I send it?
Yes, but not in place. A change to a sent invoice creates a new revision, and the earlier versions stay on record, so what your client received is never lost. Drafts can be changed freely. See Revisions.
Can I delete an invoice?
You can delete a draft, because it has no number yet. A sent invoice is never deleted: you void it with a reason, and it keeps its number with a VOID stamp. If the invoice already has payments, issue a credit note instead. See Void and delete.
How does invoice numbering work?
Each business has its own gap-free sequence per document type, such as INV-2027-0001 for invoices and CN-2027-0001 for credit notes. A number is given when a document is first sent, so deleted drafts never leave gaps. You can set your own pattern. See Document numbering.
Can I invoice in any currency?
Yes. Choose the currency per document. When it differs from your business's base currency, the exchange rate is frozen on the document so totals never shift later. See Currencies and exchange rates.
How can my client check that an invoice is real?
Every PDF sent from an account carries a verification QR code. It opens a page showing the issuing business, document number, date, total and current status. See Verification codes.
Payments
How can my clients pay me?
At launch: by card through your own connected Stripe account, or by bank transfer using the details you add. Local QR payments for UPI, Raast, JazzCash and Easypaisa arrive in late January 2027 and Whop in February 2027. See How payments work.
My client says they paid by bank transfer. Why is the invoice not paid?
A client clicking "I have paid" is a claim, not a confirmed payment. You are notified and can see any proof they uploaded. Once the money is in your account, record the payment and the invoice moves to paid. See Record a payment and Payment proofs.
Can a client pay only part of an invoice?
Yes. Partial payments are allowed by default. The balance updates when each payment is confirmed, and the invoice shows as partly paid until the rest arrives. Deposits and instalment plans arrive in late January 2027. See Deposits and schedules.
How do I refund a client?
Issue a credit note on the paid invoice and choose to refund. A Stripe payment is refunded through Stripe; a bank transfer refund is recorded by you after you send the money back. You can also keep the amount as client credit for the next invoice. See Refunds.
Clients and email
Do my clients need an account or a password?
No, never. Clients open documents from a secure link. From January 2027 they can also use a client portal by entering their email to get a one-time sign-in link. See Client portal.
How many emails can I send?
Through our platform mailer: 20 a month on Free and 100 on Team, after you verify your email address. Through your own SMTP mailbox: as many as you like. See Platform email and Your own SMTP.
Who do my clients see as the sender?
With the platform mailer, emails come from "Your Business via Free Invoice Automation", and replies go to your business email. With your own SMTP, they come from your own address.
Teams and permissions
Can my accountant see my invoices on the Free plan?
Yes. Every plan includes one free view-only Accountant who can see documents, clients, payments and reports and export them, but cannot change anything. See Member seats.
Can I control what each team member can do?
On Team, yes. You can edit the Admin, Editor, Viewer and Accountant roles or create custom roles, and limit each member to some businesses. The Owner always has every permission. See Roles and permissions.
How do I remove someone's access straight away?
Deactivate them in Settings > Team. Their sessions are signed out and their API keys and MCP tokens for your account are revoked at once. Their work stays. This works on every plan. See Deactivate and remove.
AI and automation
What is the AI invoice agent?
An assistant inside the app, in Automate > AI agent, that turns plain language or pasted text into draft invoices, estimates and clients. It always creates drafts; nothing is sent until you confirm. See Agent overview.
How do AI credits work on Free?
A Free account gets 250 welcome credits in its first month after sign-up when it adds a card, which is verified for $0 and never charged. After that, buy a pack of 1,000 credits for $5 or connect your own AI key. See AI credits.
Will you ever charge my card for credits automatically?
No. Credit packs are bought only when you click "Buy 1,000 credits" and complete Stripe Checkout. There is no auto top-up and no charge to a saved card. See Credit packs.
Can I use Free Invoice Automation from Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes. Connect your assistant to our MCP server at https://mcp.freeinvoiceautomation.com/mcp and sign in. Your assistant does the AI work, so this never uses credits. It creates drafts and asks you before it sends or voids anything. See MCP overview.
Data, privacy and security
Where is my data stored?
In the European Union, on our own server and an EU storage bucket. Generator documents stay in your own browser until you sign up. See How we protect data.
Do you store my clients' card details?
No. Card payments happen on Stripe's hosted pages and card data never touches our servers. When saved cards arrive in March 2027, the card still stays at Stripe and we keep only the brand, last 4 digits and the client's consent.
Can I export everything and leave?
Yes. The Owner can export the whole account as JSON, PDFs and CSV at any time, and can delete the account. A deleted account is hidden at once and permanently erased after 30 days. See Export your data and Delete your account.
Are there ads on my invoices or pay pages?
Never. There are no ads, affiliate links or sponsors on the generator, PDFs, pay pages, the client portal or client emails, and no analytics on pay, portal, pay-me or verification pages.
Developers
Is there an API, and does it cost extra?
Yes, and no. The REST API at https://api.freeinvoiceautomation.com/v1 is on every plan and does everything the web app does. Create a key in Settings > API keys. See the API reference.
Can my script send invoices without anyone confirming?
Only if you choose so. API keys are draft_only by default, so sends need "confirm": true after a preview. A key created in auto_send mode can send directly; creating one needs a fresh sign-in. See Drafts and confirmations.
How do I get notified when an invoice is paid?
Add a webhook endpoint. We send signed events such as document.paid and payment.recorded to your URL and retry if it is down. See Webhooks.
